Are all 1N4148 diodes the same?
The 1N4148 superseded the earlier 1N914 as the most common mass-produced switching diode. They largely differed in their leakage current parameters; however, most manufacturers now publish common specs. Vishay, for example, lists the same leakage current for both parts: At -20 V and 25°C, the current is 25 nA.
What is the Schottky diode and how it works?
In a Schottky diode, a semiconductor–metal junction is formed between a semiconductor and a metal, thus creating a Schottky barrier. The N-type semiconductor acts as the cathode and the metal side acts as the anode of the diode. This Schottky barrier results in both a low forward voltage drop and very fast switching.
